about restore
The community is happy, residents are happy and Habitat is happy with the recent success of the Habitat ReStore! It started out as a dream. . .the staff, volunteers and Board of Directors envisioned a home improvement retail establishment that would offer potential buyers an opportunity to purchase new and used home improvement items at 50% to 90% off retail prices. The ReStore concept went from a dream to reality with a lot of prayer and preparation. Soon a business plan was created. Then in June of 2007, Habitat signed a lease to rent 15,000 square feet of warehouse and office space. In September of 2007, Andrea Hughes, current ReStore Manager was hired and 3 months later, with a lot of prayer and hard work, the ReStore opened it's doors to the public.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Habitat ReStore?
Area residents can help Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County (HFHSCC) build home for families in need without picking up a saw or hammer!
The Habitat ReStore's mission is to provide new and gently used home improvement materials and appliances at affordable prices to people of all income levels. We also aim to keep usable building materials, home improvement products and appliances out of local landfills; saving valuable space, time and money. We will generate additional funds to build more Habitat for Humanity homes in St. Charles County, allowing more families in need to purchase a simple, decent and affordable home of their own.
How does the Habitat ReStore help with HFHSCC's mission?
The money raised by the ReStore will help build additional homes in St. Charles county. The ReStore's goal is to raise enough money in the first year to build 3 more homes. Over the next 3 years we would like to contribute enough funds to build 10 additional homes per year. HFHSCC's mission is to build 8 homes; with the ReStore's additional funding our goal is a total of 11-18 homes per year! Founded in 1996, as a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization, HFHSCC's mission is to eliminate substandard housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by working in partnership with God's people.
